Blurred Borders 15

Blurred Borders Dance Festival #15

May 2013 | 8:PM | Saville Theater | downtown San Diego

 Featuring In Spite of It

This year’s Blurred Borders event will feature new works by Los Angeles choreographer Regina Klenjoski, Ericka Aisha Moore of Evoke Dance Theatre, and the Patricia Rincon Dance Collective. All artists are crossing boundries in their work and blurring the lines between art forms with quality and daring inventivness. A cultural landscape of fresh, top-notch multi-media dance-theatre, including three San Diego premieres.

• Regina Klenjoski’s new work Fracture is an investigation into the physical, emotional and physiological breaks that happen to us in our journey through life. Fracture explores our relationship between trust and codependence and to what extent those lines blur.  How do we navigate feelings of betrayal? Are those fractures repairable?  With original music by Mark Fitchett, choreographer and composer are blurring the lines between independent composition and parallel development of their work.  In what ways does the creation of each inform the development of the other? rkdc.org

• Ericka Aisha Moore, Artistic Director of Evoke Dance Theatre presents MICHELLE: I listened for you!  Inspired by a quote written by Kahlil Gibran: “You would know the secret of death. But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life? If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life. For life and death are one, even as the river and sea are one. In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond.” eveoke.org

The Patricia Rincon Dance Collective (San Diego) presents In Spite of It, a playful new work that explores new languages and altered spaces with music by Brian Eno & David Byrne and mixed by Melanie Chen with Lighting Design by Wen-Ling Liao and performed by Kenna Crouch, Sarah Navarette, Sarah Norwood and Natalia Valerdi. rincondance.org
